Project Manager, Preclinical Development

Cequent is seeking a Project Manager with strong preclinical development experience to lead the development of novel bacterial delivery technologies. This exciting position will provide the qualified candidates with an opportunity to help develop the next generation of Cequent’s products.

The successful candidates will report to the Director of Preclinical Development.

Responsibilities

  • In this highly visible role, the Project Manager will manage and coordinate activities related to manufacturing, toxicology and regulatory studies. 
  • Closely collaborate with the Research and Development group and Senior Management to plan strategic preclinical programs
  • Work with external vendors and reporting to investors of Cequent's product development timelines
  • Interact and present Cequent's technology to contractors and CROs

Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree (advanced degree a plus)  with 3 - 6 years relevant project management experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to manage contract research organizations and work with different levels of management and teams
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Manage and integrate the objectives of the cross-functional areas including manufacturing, CMC, toxicology, preclinical, and regulatory.

Scientist, Inflammatory Diseases

Cequent is seeking an experienced PhD or MD/PhD scientist with a strong biomedical research background to conduct research in inflammatory diseases. Initial focus will be on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Experience in animal models of inflammatory bowel disease and/or gene therapy approaches are a plus. The successful candidate will carry out Cequent’s preclinical research efforts for the indications of inflammatory bowel disease, as well as other inflammatory diseases, and assist in the development of the early stage clinical trials.

He/She reports to the Director of Preclinical Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and conduct research for the inflammatory diseases program
  • Select, develop and validate novel targets and assays for RNAi-based therapy of inflammatory bowel disease
  • Work in close collaboration with molecular biology, bacteriology and in vivo groups
  • Present results at department and outside scientific meetings
  • Supervise team of research associates

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MD/PhD with 3 - 6 years research experience in inflammatory diseases
  • Strong in vivo animal background
  • Self-motivated, independent scientist
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

In Vivo Biologist

Cequent is seeking an experienced PhD or MD/PhD scientist with a strong experience working with rodents and larger animals: breeding, injections, surgical experience. Experience in animal models of colon cancer and/or gene therapy approaches are also a benefit. The successful candidate will conduct the preclinical research and will assist in the development of the early stage clinical trials. He/she will report to the Director of Preclinical Development.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in vivo efficacy studies to evaluate discovery lead compounds and investigate their mechanisms of action
  • Develop/validate molecular and imaging biomarkers to support ongoing and future clinical trials
  • Work in close collaboration with the molecular biology, bacteriology and cancer groups
  • Supervise team of research associates
  • Present data at internal and external meetings

Qualifications:

  • PhD or MD/PhD with 3 - 6 years relevant research experience
  • Strong in vivo background required, experience with specific colon cancer models a plus
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Energetic self-starter, capable of working both independently and as part of a team

Scientist, Molecular Biology

Cequent is seeking molecular biologists with a strong track record and 4-6 years relevant research experience. Scientists in the molecular biology group will have a key role in developing Cequent’s products and research novel avenues. Prior experience with RNA Interference and/or antisense gene regulation a great plus.

Responsibilities

  • Development and optimization of novel and existing RNAi delivery methods in close collaboration with bacteriology group
  • Design and evaluation of a novel target screening and selection program for bacteria based RNAi
  • Development and screening of targets for the preclinical therapeutic programs
  • Design and synthesis of advanced versions of TRIP plasmids and novel bacterial carrier systems in close collaboration with bacteriology and preclinical programs
  • Report of results at internal and external meetings

Qualifications

  • Molecular Biology PhD with 3 - 6 years relevant research experience 
  • Relevant experience in RNA interference a plus
  • Prior experience in viral and non viral gene delivery methods a plus
  • Self motivated, results oriented
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Group leader experience a plus

Research Associate, Biology

There are multiple openings for experienced research associates in the bacteriology and molecular biology groups as well as in the preclinical Inflammatory Diseases program and the Cancer program. Research associates work in a dynamic team and have responsibilities based on their level of experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, conduct and evaluate in vitro and in vivo experiments
  • Prepare reports, summaries and protocols
  • Present data in team and department meetings
  • Service and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies

Qualifications:

  • BS/MS degree with 2-3 years relevant research experience
  • Excellent cell culture and molecular biology skills, alternatively bacteriology
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, luciferase assays, cytotoxicity assays, molecular biology techniques (PCR, RT PCR, Real time PCR, Northern Blot, Southern Blot, cloning, etc) ELISA, a plus
  • In vivo animal research experience a plus
  • Word processing and spreadsheet data management
  • All candidates should be willing to learn and expand their qualifications
